Position Summary
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a key role in driving top-of-funnel growth for FoodChain ID’s commercial team. This role combines outbound prospecting, market research, and cross-functional collaboration to identify and engage target accounts. You’ll operate as a hunter—driving outreach with creativity, strategy, and urgency to break into new logos and connect prospects with FoodChain ID’s solutions. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives and the Marketing Team to contribute directly to pipeline growth.
This is a remote position, open to candidates residing within the continental United States.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct outbound prospecting via cold calls, emails, and social channels
Identify and qualify new leads to create opportunities for Account Executives
Book discovery calls and meetings with high-potential prospects
Build and manage automated cadences to drive engagement
Manage and nurture inbound leads to support consistent pipeline development
Collaborate with marketing to align outreach with campaigns, content, and messaging
Coordinate with Events team to book meetings before, during, and after key industry events
Meet or exceed weekly activity benchmarks and quarterly targets
Partner with Account Executives to identify key decision-makers and opportunity paths
Research and document prospect activity, account details, and lead status in Salesforce
Use tools and technology to manage outbound activity at scale
Participate in ongoing product training, sales coaching, and industry education
Competencies and Skills
Proven ability to drive outbound prospecting without relying on pre-qualified lists
Comfortable initiating conversations with cold prospects and handling objections
Resourceful in finding creative ways to break through noise and engage prospects
Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to spark curiosity
Highly motivated by metrics, goals, and performance tracking
Adaptable and eager to continuously improve messaging and outreach tactics
Works collaboratively with peers and cross-functional teams
Organized in managing multiple tasks and tools simultaneously
Self-starter mindset with a strong sense of accountability
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
2+ years experience in Business Development, Sales, or SDR role
Background in Food and Beverage certification and/or testing preferred.
Experience with CRM platforms and sales tools such as Salesforce, Salesloft or Apollo.
Strong time management and organizational skills
Understanding of manufacturing, retail, food/feed, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, or food service industries
Must reside within the continental United States
Fluency in English required
